Job at Falls Church Presbyterian Church
Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministry
Falls Church Presbyterian Church is hiring a full-time Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministry (DCYFM) to lead our children, youth, and families as they grow in Christian faith. We’re looking for a Director to help us grow into our vision: a program centered on faithfulness that prioritizes high quality experiences in faith development and mission, undertaken among friends. We want to build a peaceful, safe community to openly and honestly explore, question, and grow in faith—not just another activity on a long list of “to do's” for often overscheduled children, teens, and families. The DCYFM will be responsible for:
Administering the children, youth, and family ministry, including:
--Recruiting and supervising volunteer ministry leaders to carry out the mission of the church; --Building relationships with children, youth, and families and facilitating similar relationships with other adult mentors; and --Nurturing Christian faith and discipleship in young people of the congregation by fostering Christian community, teaching from the Bible, and creating opportunities for them to practice the Christian life together.
A detailed position description is available here . Candidates are invited to submit a resume, statement of faith, and cover letter to the search team at [email protected] Cover letters should address your approach to children, youth, and family ministry and how your experience is appropriate for FCPC.
FCPC’s mission is to gather those who fear they are not enough, so we may experience grace, wholeness, and renewal as God’s beloved. FCPC is a longtime member of the Covenant Network, which works “for the unity of the church, furthering the inclusion of LGBTQ persons, seeking understanding and reconciliation, and joining with others seeking a still more just and inclusive church.”
FCPC is an inclusive congregation that sees our mission as a continual effort to discern God’s path and follow it.
One way we are doing that is with our Welcome Table ministry, which began in 2011 as a once-a-month dinner to serve those in need in our community. In September 2013 we expanded the program to serve dinner on the first and third Wednesday of each month.
We belong to the Covenant Network of Presbyterians, seeking to fully include all of God’s children in the life of the church regardless of sexual orientation.
