Full time Director of Youth Ministry
First Presbyterian Church, Wilmington, North Carolina
Purpose:
The Director of Youth Ministry is charged to shape disciples who make a difference, with a particular focus on sixth through twelfth grade youth. He or she will provide oversight, vision and leadership to the total youth ministry program at First Presbyterian Church (www.firstonthird.org,) incorporating the values of the Youth Council. The Director will work collaboratively with the Youth Council (made up of youth and adults), the Parish Associate for Christian Education, other staff, the Session, and volunteers to fulfill the vows the church has taken for its children at baptism.
Essential Functions
Invite, train, and equip adult volunteers for all aspects of youth ministry. This includes modeling effective teaching and leadership skills with youth and volunteer leaders, teachers and
mentors.
Develop faith sharing and faith building relationships with youth and their families.
Develop ways to support youth outside church activities such as sports, cultural events, enter-
tainment opportunities, home and college visits.
Carry out a plan to bridge ministry between age groups: elementary school to middle school,
middle school to high school, high school graduation to college. Work with Youth Council to: -Develop and monitor youth programs that include service, worship, fellowship, study, and ministry within congregation. -Develop and monitor annual calendar of activities and programs (including summer) that are inclusive and promote relationship development and discipleship. -Manage expenses within the budget of Youth Ministry, coordinate, and plan raising activities.

Maintain good communication with the church staff, the Session, the Youth Council, youth, and parents.
Attend Youth Council Meetings
Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
Attend Session meetings as needed.
Participate in church wide activities.
Other youth related duties as requested or necessary.
Education and experience:
Bachelor's Degree Experience working with youth ministry.
Commitment to Reformed theology and tradition.
Person of deep and vibrant Christian faith with a passion and commitment to youth and their spiritual growth.
