Church description

After the sanctuary of St. John's burned down in 2009, we were described in the community as "the church that burned" for several years afterward. The community no longer refers to that chaotic event. St. John's UMC is a congregation that is full of energy, love and kindness. Though, we are not one of the largest churches in our community, we are one of the leading churches in our community. We are courageous and willing to invest in ministry with a variety of resources in order to reach out to people of all races and ages. The people of St. John's are generous, gracious and inclusive. We are willing to take risks and make changes in order to grow. The people of St. John's know what it means to overcome and adapt. We are now known in the community as a passionate church. And a few of our members refer to themselves as the church that is on fire for Jesus.
