Director of Youth Ministries
The Director of Youth Ministries’ role is to nurture young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to youth ministry through fellowship, group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach. The Director serves as a spiritual leader and role model, fostering faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and equipping youth to be in ministry to other youth. The Director is the day-to-day leader of the youth ministry, focusing on 6th-12th grade students and their families.
The ideal Director of Youth Ministries for GUMC will have the following qualifications:
•Christian background and an active faith life; •Experience with, and a passion for, youth ministry; •Bachelor’s degree in a related field; •Knowledge of youth and youth culture; •Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and volunteers; •Energetic enthusiasm for fostering youth leadership; •Excellent interpersonal communication skills with both youth and adults; •Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and implement youth ministries; •Excellent organizational skills; •Ability to provide faith-based counsel to youth and families; •Willingness to work cooperatively and to support other ministries of the church; •Positive outlook and disposition; •Flexible approach to solving problems; •Ability to work within a budget.

•Satisfactory Security Background Check; •Completed Safe Sanctuary Training; •Minimum age of 23, to comply with the GUMC Safe Sanctuaries Policy.
