Full-time Youth Pastor at FPC Evanston, IL
First Presbyterian Church of Evanston, a growing and vibrant fellowship of believers in the heart of Evanston, seeks an ordained or non‐ordained full‐time Director of Youth Ministries to oversee the Youth Ministry of the church. The Director of Youth Ministries, through his or her ministry, will seek to accomplish the church’s stated goals to Know Christ, Follow Christ and Serve Christ. Position reports directly to the Associate Pastor for
Young Adults and Families.
Responsibilities include: Envisioning and directing the implementation of the mission and vision of First Presbyterian Church for the Youth Ministry; Assisting in implementation of a restructuring plan for the youth ministry in conjunction with the Youth Council and adult volunteers; and Spiritually preparing youth of the church for challenges ahead in young adulthood and nurturing in the youth a sense of clear Christian identity through an understanding of God‐given gifts and talents. These responsibilities will be accomplished through planning and executing a program of sustainable youth ministry at First Presbyterian that is fully integrated in the life of the church and part of an overall vision for Cradle to Commencement Christian Education.
The priority of the Director of Youth Ministries is to ensure that relationships are built between the adult leaders and the youth of First Presbyterian. The Director of Youth Ministries will insure that all details of youth programs and special events are taken care of so that an atmosphere of belonging and fellowship is created, in which emerging spiritual
and leadership skills can be developed. The Director of Youth Ministries will supervise the youth ministry assistant. The Director of Youth Ministries will meet with the staff and hands‐on adult volunteers regularly to ensure that the efforts of all adult leaders and staff members are coordinated to maximize their effectiveness.
Special talents and skills preferred: Compassionate, Teacher, Willingness to engage conflict, Spiritual Maturity, Collaboration, Interpersonal Engagement, Personal Resilience, Flexibility, Self‐Differentiation, Energetic.
Required Education: Bachelors Degree, preferably in a related field. Master Degree in Theology, Ministry, Divinity, Youth Ministry a plus.
Experience: Must have 3+ years of working with middle school and high school youth. Generous compensation package offered.
