Minister to Students

Job Description


Principal Function:
The Minister to Students is responsible for supporting and leading a comprehensive ministry to youth in grades 6 – 12 and college.

Supervisory Relationship:

The Minister to Students is supervised by the Associate Pastor.


  1. Maintain a healthy, growing spiritual life of prayer, worship, and service that serves as a living example of Christian discipleship and encourages students to live in a like manner.

  2. Plan, coordinate, administer, support and evaluate a comprehensive student ministry that
    reaches, teaches, encourages, challenges, and spiritually nurtures students in grades 6-12 and college. The ministry should develop students who possess a solid foundation of Biblical truths, who live with an attitude of compassion and service for others, and who have an authentic and undeniable love for God.

  3. Encourage students to regularly attend and participate in worship.

  4. Build relationships with the students by being available to meet with, counsel, and encourage them. Foster relationships with and between students by attending activities that involve them (e.g. sporting events, chorus and band concerts, plays, etc.) and to be deliberate in your efforts to create an environment that makes all students feel welcomed, accepted, loved and included.

  5. Develop and administer the annual budget for the Student and College Ministries

  6. Enlist and train teachers, workers and volunteers for the Student and College ministry.

  7. Encourage, train, and provide opportunities for students to serve as leaders in the student ministry.

  8. Develop regular and timely communication to students, their parents, and workers using various means and technologies (e.g. written, social media, web page, videos, etc.)

  9. Plan effective programs and regular dialog opportunities that support, encourage, and help train parents of students.

  10. Maintain a study discipline that encourages professional growth, stays current in student ministry trends, and strengthens one’s personal relationship with God.

  11. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
