King of Glory Lutheran Church

King of Glory is among the largest ELCA congregations in the Northern Texas-Northern Louisiana Synod. Located on a busy freeway, the central location draws our approximately 1,900 members as well as visitors from across the area due to a variety of worship settings, including traditional and jazz/contemporary services, and strong Sunday School programs. The high quality of worship, music and educational opportunities for all ages and fellowship opportunities are important factors in the cross-generational and increasingly multi-cultural membership.

Our congregation has long held a strong focus on outreach, to ELCA and synod needs as well as our surrounding community. Approximately 16 percent of King of Glory's annual budget goes towards benevolence. The congregation's community efforts resulted in creating In the City for Good, a successful program that engages existing neighborhood leaders in South Dallas and partners with several community organizations to fight drugs, gangs, and poverty in the area. King of Glory has several other key community programs and partnerships including Family Gateway, Texas Ramp Project, Dallas Area Interfaith, MOSAIC and food-based ministries such as Meals on Wheels, North Dallas Shared Ministries and several others. Finally, Impact Dallas is an annual church-wide event during a Sunday morning where we spread out across the community to serve.

From the time the parents present their child for baptism, until high school graduation, Youth and Family Ministry supports, nurtures, equips and accompanies families as they worship, learn, serve, and join in fellowship together. Our youth group draws families from the DFW metroplex. Our childrens and youth programs enjoy strong support from both our congregation and staff. Our youths’ faith journey follows the seven Faith Stepping Stones from Baptism through High School graduation. To grow their love of Jesus and share His message they participate in Jr. and Sr. High Mission trips, service projects, Discipleship Camp, National Youth Gatherings, Sunday School and weekly youth group meetings.

Within the congregation, we encourage members to connect with life group activities and join small study groups. These groups offer communal support for the joys and difficulties of life, including illness and conflicts within our families. In addition to life groups, there are many opportunities within the congregation for fellowship, including various choirs and
activity groups.Through all of these ministries, the members of King of Glory strive to nurture, equip and serve the community with a "Welcome for ALL" to seek and be followers of Christ.
