TITLE: Interim Director of Children’s Ministry
This position is considered open immediately, and is anticipated to be for a period of approximately one year. The Interim Director of Children’s Ministry will assist the church in its process to call a permanent director.
Childhood offers a precious opportunity to share the love of Christ with receptive hearts. We believe that our ministry to kids is about supporting the parents and/or other adults in their lives who are doing the work of teaching the faith at home.
The Interim Director of Children’s Ministry position exists to ensure that children (specifically infants through 6th grade) are given experiences which make tangible the unconditional love and acceptance of God. These experiences come in the form of real relationships, shared worship, and appropriate programs. A degree in or related to the field of education
Professional experience in early childhood education, teaching and mentoring children, and leading worship
Relevant computer skills

Experience with project management
Detail-oriented, flexible, and a disciplined work ethic
Experience in establishing good relationships with a wide variety of individuals, such as church staff members, ministry volunteers/staff, parents, and other members of the congregation.
The church also prefers applicants to this position have at least five years of relevant experience.
The Interim Director of Children’s Ministry will:
Plan, organize, and supervise all children’s activities and programs. This includes but may not be limited to Sunday School, Wednesday night classes, Children’s Church, Nursery Care, and Vacation Bible School
Recruit, train, and oversee all nursery workers, including a cadre of staff/volunteers
Prepare and provide volunteers with needed resources. This may include teaching materials, curricula, training, and pastoral care
Coordinate all ministry volunteers for all the various children’s activities and programs
Coordinate the operation of the nursery, including the needed staff, during Sunday worship services, Wednesday night classes, and other programs or services as needed
Organize the nursery areas and ensure their cleanliness and safety according to the age- specific state standards. Launder sheets, blankets, toys, etc. as necessary
Routinely inspect nursery equipment and toys; purchase new items and discard old ones as necessary
Purchase materials, supplies, snacks, wipes, and other needed items for all children’s and nursery activities and programs
Invest in relationships with parents, communicate as needed, and provide parents with resources and encouragement
Feel the freedom to develop new and creative ways of fulfilling the purpose of the ministry position in each of its respective areas
Work with Christian Education Ministry Team to prepare and submit annual children’s ministry budget to the church Session
Work in collaboration with the pastoral staff and the Christian Education Ministry Team
Oversee the Children’s Church Leader, Children’s Music Leader, and Nursery Staff
Participate in continuing education and/or training to stay current in the field
Be consistent, prepared, accountable, and proactive in reporting issues or concerns to the supervising minister
Be a quick learner, intuitive question asker, and helpful contributor
With an eye to the future, help shape both the overall vision of our children’s ministry, and the development of the permanent Director of Children’s Ministry position
The Interim Director of Children’s Ministry is a part time (25 hrs per week) salaried position.
