Children's Ministry Pastor

Job Description

The Director of Children’s Ministries (CM) of Open Door Presbyterian Church (ODPC) Christian Education (CE) department shall, in partnership with the English-speaking Congregation (EC) Pastors and Korean-speaking Congregation (KC) Pastors of ODPC, provide provides leadership, training, support and oversight for the entire CM and AWANA ministry (CM&A) and Pastors/Directors who are ministering to the young children (Infants through 6th grade) of the entire ODPC family in harmony and pursue the mission and vision of ODPC. The Director is responsible for setting a vision for the CM&A staff and leading and advocating for them to fulfill it. ODPC offers full children’s programing for two services on Sunday mornings, currently averaging 600 children.
The AWANA programs primarily operates on Friday evenings with around 200 participants. The Director must work on weekends (Friday through Sunday) to oversee the preparation and execution of the Sunday School program as well as assume the role of Commander of ODPC’s AWANA ministry on Friday evenings. The Director will also support the EC & KC pastoral staff and CE staff in congregation-wide and CE-wide events.

Open Door Presbyterian Church’s (ODPC) vision is to be an open door to a life changing grace. ODPC is an
independent church, Presbyterian in polity, in Herndon, Virginia, consisting of two interdependent
congregations: the English-speaking Congregation (EC) and the Korean-speaking Congregation (KC). Each of EC
and KC is governed by its own board of elders, with issues affecting both EC and KC addressed jointly by both
boards of elders. On Sundays, approximately 450 adults attend EC services while approximately 2,000 adults
attend KC services. In addition, there are about 300 Youth Group students as well as about 600 children in our Children’s Ministry.
