Job Description for Family Ministries Coordinator
Part Time (10 hours/week)
Reports to Ministry Associate for Emerging Generations
The Family Ministries Coordinator (FMC) will work in coordination with the Emerging Generations Ministry Team (additional staff members in this department as well as the youth ministry and children’s ministry boards) to assist in the development and implementation of the ministries to the children, youth, and families of The Community Church of Vero Beach. Ability to work effectively both collegially and independently is required. The FMC will work in close coordination with the Ministry Associate for Emerging Generations to ensure the best possible ministry experience is fostered for the spiritual growth of the children, youth, and families of CCOVB. The job description for this position is provided with the understanding that this position will work with the whole of the Emerging Generations Team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in preparation, coordination, and leading of Sunday school activities. Including but not limited to: gathering and maintaining materials, organizing rooms, leading of lessons as needed, and coordinating volunteers. • Provide a welcoming environment and be present on Sunday mornings for families during the check-in and check-out times as well as during the Holy Chaos (family fellowship) time after service. • Ensure that all preparations are made for check-in, check-out, and Holy Chaos. • Assist in the preparation, coordination, and leading of Middle School Youth Group on Wednesday nights. Including but not limited to: coordination and organization of activities and games, preparation of Commotion (youth building), and gathering of materials. • Coordinate and communicate with other volunteers and leaders to ensure a clear vision for all Emerging Generations Ministries’ events and programs. • Maintain a welcoming environment that nurtures relationship building. • Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers for Emerging Generations Ministries. • Participation and coordination in family ministry and community wide events put on by the Emerging Generations Ministry Team. • Maintain regular and consistent job attendance • Other duties as assigned
Other Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to be creative and a willingness to try new ministries and programs • Establish and maintain effective relationships with children, youth, and families within the church setting. • Have a passion for and ability to work effectively with children, youth, and families. • Possess the ability to use technology relevant to the position including personal computers, cell phones, and other devices as needed. • Be able to schedule flexibly, including some weekend and weeknight responsibilities. • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Community Church
While performing the duties of the job, the Family Ministry Coordinator will be required to move about, sit, talk, and hear. The FMC may be required to push or pull objects of varying size and weight, such as tables, chairs, and boxes of supplies. The employee may be required to lift objects up to 25lbs. such as a package of paper. The employee will use manual dexterity and finger dexterity while performing the duties of this position.
This is a part-time position of 10 hours per week. The Family Ministry Coordinator must be present on Sundays from 9:00am – 12pm and Wednesdays from 4:30pm – 7:30pm as well as four (4) additional hours per week to fulfill duties as assigned. Additional duties and hours will arise beyond the hours listed above, some flexibility/comp time will be accommodated for when these times arise.
• Excellent communication and people skills • Demonstrated leadership ability • Passion for working with children, youth, and families • Experience with Children’s and Youth Ministry and/or related work experience • Must be able to work Sundays and Wednesdays • Must be able to pass a background check • Must have a valid driver’s license
• $15 per hour
