Director of Youth Ministries
Employment Status : Salary Date: March 1, 2024
Supervisor: Senior Pastor
Principle Function:
The Director of Youth Ministries has the responsibility of overseeing Grace Church’s ministry to teens in grades 6-12. The individual will have training, gifts, passion, and experience in leading a youth ministry. The principal focus is to plan, develop, implement and supervise all aspects of the youth ministry. The Director of Youth Ministries will partner with lay leaders, staff and volunteers in shepherding, mentoring, training and equipping the youth. The vision is to have a ”hands on” ministry to Junior and Senior High Students to lead them with the goal of building young followers of Jesus. Our aim is to continue cultivating a thriving, Jesus focused ministry through prayer, worship, teaching, discipleship, small groups, evangelism, and missional service, and to provide guidance and resources to the teams that serve them. The Director of Youth Ministries will be a “magnet” for students and a partner to parents. This is a full time position with benefits. The Director of Youth Ministries will report to the Senior Pastor.
Regular Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership in spiritual matters to youth and their families.
Teach the gospel of Christ to youth and use creative methods to reach their generation.
Overall responsibility for evangelizing, relationship building, and discipling of students.
Intentionally equip students with the spiritual life skills that will carry them through college and beyond.
Recruit, develop, equip and lead a strong team of qualified and committed volunteer leaders that will meet monthly.
Design, plan, and execute a youth ministry program with assistance from the Youth Council.
Engage the youth parents so they are well informed and are a part of the youth program.
Develop and lead meaningful worship experiences and implement small group Bible studies.
Develop and implement strategy for reaching lost and lonely youth
Plan and execute summer camps/mission trips
Oversee the transition and assimilation of students from Junior High into Senior High ministry and Senior High into college.
Facilitate separate Junior High and Senior High discussions and activities.
Create, implement, adjust, and enforce policies and procedures that protect students and build trust within the church and community.
Develop healthy lines of communication to parents and the rest of the church.
Support the youth during difficult times in their lives by visitation at homes, hospitals, funerals, etc.
Equip and empower the youth in community service and evangelism by directing outreach projects or similar initiatives.
Recruit and supervise interns from the IUP community.
Build relationships with students and their parents or guardians by attending extra-curricular events such as school sports, music concerts, drama, art shows, etc.
Hold monthly meetings for the first six months on the job and then quarterly meetings to update, inform, and connect with parents and guardians and the Staff Parish Relations Committee.
Attend Professional Development opportunities as they arise.
Coordinate connection tools with the youth team to develop committed members out of occasional guests.
Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications Required by this Position:
This position requires an individual to articulate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the ability to demonstrate that relationship. It also requires the individual to love working with youth and share their passion for Jesus by spending time with youth.

Ability to develop and articulate a vision for Youth Ministry consistent with the vision of Grace Church
Ability to develop innovative, creative, cutting edge approaches to youth ministry
Ability to represent Grace Church effectively in a variety of settings
Exhibit professional skills, appearance, and conduct
Ability to be enthusiastic, with high energy: a self-starter
Demonstration of a teachable spirit
Ability to manage conflict in helpful, honest and redemptive ways

Minimum Qualifications:
Prefer a 4 year undergraduate/bachelor’s degree in Education or related field(s)
Demonstrate love for the Youth
Demonstrate ability to effectively raise up and train junior leadership
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Three plus years of volunteer or paid experience in a youth Christian Education setting is preferred

Other responsibilities may be assigned to you by the Senior Pastor, as deemed necessary to enhance the spiritual life and ministry of the church.
