Church description

Kirkwood is a small but vibrant Christian community just outside Washington DC. We are of a variety of ages, engaged actively in community ministry and as a smaller church surrounded by many larger congregations offer the intimacy of belonging that draws those looking for a church that "feels like home." Yet, our congregation is highly professional and has a number of military families often in transition who are very actively involved in our ministry. Kirkwood is a "younger" church in that it is now just over fifty years since the church was organized and offers a great sense of openness to new ideas and expressions of faith while being connected intentionally to our Presbyterian and Reformed heritage. We have a small youth group at this time, but the numbers change from year to year. This position is part time and our hope and expectation is that with the right person of faith, interest, and enthusiasm to learn and grow, it will develop into a more permanent Coordinator of Children's and Youth Ministries. We are really a fun loving and faithful congregation who celebrate God's grace and kindness and compassion shown to us in Jesus Christ as his beloved community right here and right now.
