Bethesda United Methodist Church (a 600+ member church) is an evangelical congregation located in Powdersville, SC, a non-incorporated area of Anderson County, SC. Powdersville is a growing suburban community affected by the larger nearby cities of Anderson, Greenville and Easley, SC. Two high school systems of Anderson District 1 school system serve the area: Wren HS (1700+ students) and Powdersville HS (500+). Bethesda’s history goes back to the early days of the community, when the area was basically farmland. With a relocation to a prominent intersection, relatively new facilities, and other adaptations, the church has worked to be current and future oriented, while maintaining a connection to its historic roots.Worship is central to Bethesda, with an 8:30 AM informal service, a contemporary service at 9:00 AM and a traditional service at 11:00. The congregation has a strong commitment to missions, with many members, adult and youth, involved in hands-on service through home repairs and to housing the homeless. Bible studies, choirs, and ministries for children, youth, and adult groups provide avenues for Christian fellowship, growth in discipleship and service.
