The mission of West Market Street United Methodist Church is to glorify God as we make, nurture and send forth disciples of Jesus Christ.

Church description

Our location in the heart of downtown Greensboro makes us unique. We draw people from a wide variety of backgrounds and neighborhoods throughout Greensboro and Guilford County. This also provides challenges for us because we must be doing something special to make it worth it for so many people to drive past neighborhood churches and come downtown for worship and activities. Among the primary things we believe what make it worth it for people to come downtown to join us are the following:
(1) Our actions--We are a mission-oriented church, acting out our faith through actions both locally and globally, both as children and adults. We have been told our mission programs are unmatched and that people have never encountered such mission minded children and youth before. (2) Our facility--We have one of the most beautiful sanctuaries. We have newly remodeled children and youth spaces, complete with the latest technology and sports and activities space. (3) Our variety--We have top notch traditional worship and unmatched traditional music, including the Dobson-Rosales organ. At the same time, we have an amazing contemporary worship and our praise band includes a former member of a chart-topping pop group.
(4) Our enthusiasm--Whatever we do, we do with enthusiasm. From hosting overflow homeless men at the church in the winter to rolling skating together on a Sunday evening. Our faith shows and our enthusiasm for sharing it shows. (5) Our children/youth programs--A few years ago, we decided to take to heart the research that shows kids develop their life-long beliefs by age 14 and that kids are now the driving force in families picking churches. As a result we have an unmatched children's ministry and are on our way to making the youth ministry just as spectacular.
