Director of Children, Youth, & Family Ministries
Position Title: Joint Director of Youth, Children and Families Ministries
Location: First Congregational Church, UCC Greeley, Colorado
Reports to: Minister, Head of Programs
Hours: Part time position with flexible hours (approximately 20-24 hours per week). Will include some nights and weekends.
Start: Summer 2021
The Director of Youth, Children and Families is responsible for the faith formation programming for children (preschool-5th grade) and youth (6th-12th grade). This individual works closely with a variety of professionals on an interdisciplinary staff in a progressive and welcoming church. The Director of Youth, Children and Families works to deepen the Christian faith by offering leadership and service opportunities, by promoting a sense of belonging, and connecting them to one another and the wider church community.
This position may also be split into two positions: Director of Children and Families Ministries (preschool & elementary ages, 10-12 hr/week) and Director of Youth Ministries (middle and high school ages, 10-12 hr/week). We are open to receiving applications from candidates who are interested in serving in one of these two roles. -Welcome new families visiting First Congregational Church, Greeley -Develop, implement, and evaluate church school curriculum and programs for children and youth. (This work is to be done in collaboration with the Family Faith Formation Team, which is comprised of volunteer leaders, and in concert with the Minister, Head of Programs.) -Coordinate special events for children and families during the year including but not limited to VBS (Vacation Bible School), Christmas Pageant, Easter Egg Hunt, fellowship opportunities, and community outreach projects. -Lead programming for middle and high school youth - including regular (weekly/monthly) activities as well as special service learning trips and/or retreats. -Serve as staff representative on the Family Faith Formation Team -Recruit, equip, and supervise volunteers working with children and youth faith formation, empowering lay leadership and youth participation while striving to create a positive and collaborative atmosphere, including enforcing Safe Church policy. -Directly develop relationships with youth, parents and volunteers by taking interest in their lives and weaving them into the intergenerational life of FCCUCC. -Communications will include emails, letters and calls to families to keep them connected to the life of the church. May also include attending children and youth events in the wider Greeley community. -Invite and encourage participation from children and youth in worship services -Lead occasional “Children’s Message” during worship services and kids’ communion -Keep youth and families informed about and connected to LaForet, the UCC denominational camp, and other Rocky Mountain Conference youth offerings. -Supervise the scholarship fund, including communicating deadlines, evaluating applications, and working with finance team to disburse funds to recipients. -Additional duties include general communications, regularly attending staff meetings, convening Family Faith Formation Team meetings, and contributing monthly articles for the church newsletter.
-Spiritual maturity with a commitment to the Christian faith and to fostering a safe and supportive community for kids and families of all backgrounds and abilities to deepen their relationship with God -Experience of leadership in children and youth ministry -Working knowledge of curriculum and other faith formation resources for children and youth ministry -Strong oral and written communication skills -Proficiency with technology and electronic communication -Ability to pass background check

Salaried: Starting at $21 an hour for half-time.
For candidates who are ordained or seeking ordination, this position may offer opportunities for preaching, the administration of the sacraments, and providing pastoral support to the congregation under supervision of the Minister, Head of Programs.
