Job at Chapelwood United Methodist Church

Associate Director of Student Ministry

Job Description

Student Ministry in Houston is a unique and exciting challenge. At Chapelwood Students, our mission is not to simply keep students in the church, but rather, we desire to equip students to know and follow Jesus and to impact their world for His kingdom. Therefore, Chapelwood UMC is looking for a dynamic, engaging, and creative individual with a vibrant relationship with Christ and a hunger to disciple students relationally. We are looking for someone with the unique capability to be a fun and authentic presence with 6th-12th grade students, to strategically put on retreats and events designed to further students’ faith, and to partner with parents, the primary disciple makers of their children.

Responsibilities include leading regular bible studies and teaching; recruiting, coordinating, and equipping volunteers; planning and running retreats; building relationships with parents and families; working closely with a small team; and keeping a timely rhythm of work habits and communication.

The successful candidate will offer the best fit from our standards of competence, character, and culture. For more information, please visit https://www.chapelwood.org/ministries/student/about/employment/associate-director-of-student-ministry/21/

Chapelwood United Methodist Church

We are a church with a committed core, deep set community, and, as one person put it recently, with dirty fingernails. It's a church that is excited to innovate for the kingdom. We are set in the middle of Memorial area Houston, and the majority of our students come from Memorial and Strake High Schools and their subsidiary middle schools.

We in student ministries are focused on relational discipleship. We aim to equip students and families to follow Jesus - to be with Him, like Him, and do what He did as we are empowered by the Holy Spirit. To that end, we become living sacrifices to the Father above.

Our official programming is currently stripped back in an effort to grow a more Spirit led and organic ministry. In other words, we are creating space to see where hearts are burning and to nurture those flames.
