Job at Wyoming Park Bible Fellowship

Part time pastoral Intern / youth director position.

Job Description

Job Posting: Please forward to anyone that might be interested.
Part time pastoral Intern / youth director position.

Description: A training position to help the candidate pursue and grow in their pastoral gifts and skills with initial focus on building a nascent Jr. High and Sr. High youth group ministry.

Requirements: Agreement with church doctrinal statement and constitution. Demonstrated willingness to grow in serving Jesus in building his church.

Expected involvement: Attendance and participation in weekly Sunday morning services, Sunday morning Sunday school for the Youth Group, Sunday Night services, and leading / teaching the Wednesday evening Youth Group meetings, and planning / coordinating at least two other Youth Group activities per quarter. Participation in twice monthly Board meetings is recommended, but not required.

Optional opportunities: Preaching on Sunday mornings up to once per quarter, leading or participating in small discipleship groups, or pursuing experience in other specific ministries such as Compassion outreach (Benevolent), Hospitality, Administration, Missions, or other leadership teams.

Church context: Loving authentic fellowship of 70-80 in a Sunday worship service, evenly distributed age groups. Bible based and gospel centered exegetical preaching is a high value. The music and children’s ministries are definite strengths. The Sr. Pastor is 64 and has been leading the church for 18 years. The Board is comprised of elders and deacons (total of 6). The current youth group is led by volunteers, and they are looking for a leader to help them bring the youth group ministry to the next level. There are 4-6 students between 7th and 11th grades, another 6 between 4th and 6th grades, and more children younger than that. The church is located in an increasingly diverse and aging urban / suburban area of Wyoming. Probably a third of our people can walk to church. The geographic average of all the addresses in the church directory is within a mile of our building.

We Love God

God has created us and sustains us. In Jesus he rescues us. Through the Holy Spirit he gives us new life. Out of gratitude and love we offer him our love and worship – as musical praise on Sunday morning – and as a lifestyle throughout the week. To love God means to obey him and trust that he will use our obedience for his glory, our good, and the good of the world.

We Love God’s People

God loves his church, and so do we. We aim to be a Christ-centered community, where we can get to know one another, care for one another, bear one another’s burdens, and pray for one another. We value cross-generational and cross-cultural relationships. We want to function like a body, where each person uses their God-given gifts, as together we contribute our small part to the worldwide body of Christ.

We Love God’s Word

God has revealed his will to us in the Bible. Our ministries are Bible-centered. We aim to preach Bible-rich sermons, host Bible studies, make decisions based on Biblically-informed wisdom, and help our congregation read and study the Bible on their own.

We Love our Neighbors

God loves the world, and he wants us to share that same love with our neighbors. We believe we have a specific responsibility to our neighborhood, to meet whatever physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual needs God has equipped us to meet. We believe that the greatest need all humans have is the need to be made right with God. And so, we seek to love our neighbors by pointing them to Jesus.
