with a heart for ministry and for students. One who will place a strong emphasis on creating and
maintaining an environment that is enriching, lively and enjoyable for its participants.
Leadership- In partnership with the Youth Ministry Committee, execute a ministry that meets the

implement long and short-term planning for youth programming and communicate and uphold clear
behavioral expectations for youth participants at all SHPC youth activities
Communication: Develop and lead both a parent and student communication strategy that nurtures a
vibrant, engaged youth group with an emphasis on parental engagement. Create and maintain a
communication system that includes long-range forecasts of events, monthly and weekly reminders of
upcoming activities, and personal invitations to individual youth and families. Leverage social media to
maintain youth engagement and attract greater youth involvement
Events: Create and publish a year-long calendar for the youth ministry activities, while also crafting
opportunities for impromptu social gatherings. Ensure that the execution of all events leave parents
confident that their children are safe and well nurtured in faith. Provide continual oversight of the
development, supervision, and direction of the Confirmation program.
Relational- Develop meaningful relationships with middle school and high school students. Develop
ministry structures for further relationships to be formed between youth and lay leaders within the
church. Seek out opportunities to connect with youth or youth families outside of regularly scheduled
ministry activities; empower lay leaders within the church to do the same. Coordinate pastoral care
needs of the church’s youth and their families with the pastoral staff.
Administrative- Assist in the development of the annual youth budget and regularly review the finances
of the youth ministry to ensure that year-to-date figures remain on budget. Ensure that necessary
control documents have been put in place and distributed in a timely fashion (including the student
directory, volunteer job descriptions, the student ministry calendar, calendar requests, event and trip
registration forms, and leaders’ directory), and confirm that all compliance documents have been
updated and distributed to all involved parties (copyright licensing, background checks on volunteers
and staff, etc.). Track attendance at all youth events. Track and report weekly hours for self and interns.
Maintain confidentiality of youth, employee, and membership information. Maintain youth designated
areas and supplies.
Salary: $45,000+ including health benefits

Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian
We serve a suburban community where we seek God through loving God and neighbor. Our beliefs motivate us to do so locally, regionally, and globally. Among those beliefs:
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Lord and Savior and that all people everywhere are called to place their faith, hope, and love in him. We therefore worship him as we acknowledge him Lord of all and Head of the Church; through him we believe in one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be, by the Holy Spirit, the authoritative witness without parallel to Jesus Christ in the Church universal, and God’s Word to us.
We sincerely receive, adopt, and believe in the essential tenets of the Reformed faith as expressed in the confessions of our church to be authentic and reliable expositions of what Scripture leads us to believe and do. Those tenets are:
- The majesty, holiness, and providence of God who creates, sustains, rules, and redeems the world in the freedom of sovereign righteousness and love
- The election of the people of God for service as well as for salvation
- Covenant life marked by a disciplined concern for order in the church according to the Word of God
- A faithful stewardship that shuns ostentation and seeks proper use of God’s creation
- The recognition of the human tendency to idolatry and tyranny which informs our call to work for the transformation of society by seeking justice and living in obedience to the Word of God.
Within the Reformed tradition, we are a congregation within the denomination known as the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and an active church in the Presbytery of East Tennessee.
